Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities
Domain 4 of the Danielson Framework is crucial for educators to continue learning and developing as a professional. In order for teachers to continue to be effective and tailor their teaching methods to their students, teachers must continue to seek out new methods and grow as a professional. By building a Professional Learning Network, attending conferences and workshops, and continually challenging traditional methods of teaching, educators will keep their teaching relevant to the students of today. "If you do not self evaluate or pick apart a lesson... then you are no better off than simply not teaching it. Once you know better, you do better - so always seek feedback! Survey your students and parents. This is growth for everyone and shows respect for others' views. Accurate records are clear cut... if you want growth for every child, you must know where they started and how they are transforming. With every step you should be able to evaluate their progress and push forward. Organized chaos can exist with making and creating but never with record keeping. Be on top of your game always! Communication with family and community is key. They need to be brought into the plan in order to help move their child forward with education. Growing as a professional is not a choice... if I were still teaching the way I was hired 21 years ago, it would be a disservice to society in general. Having a PLN is critical for growth. Never stop learning! Our children depend on it... your future is in your own hands as an educator! Lastly, conduct yourself in a respectful way. Be the change that we need and lead by example!"
